Local data
The app stores imported visual novel files, a writable copy of the bundled sample game, save files, cover art, custom or VNDB metadata, app settings, per-game settings, startup cache, and benchmark history in the app container.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync is optional. When enabled, ZScripter syncs only the categories selected in iCloud Settings: local game copies, saves, metadata and cover art, library records, and general settings. Synced data is stored in your personal iCloud account.
VNDB lookup
VNDB lookup is optional. When you search or fetch VNDB metadata, the app sends search text, selected VNDB IDs or URLs, and cover-image requests directly to VNDB over HTTPS to service that request. These requests are not sent to zky.app, and ZScripter does not send imported game files or save files to VNDB.
Imported VNDB metadata and optional cover art are stored in the app container and may sync to your personal iCloud account if you enable matching iCloud sync categories. ZScripter filters VNDB cover art by VNDB safety ratings, hides adult VNDB tags, does not import VNDB descriptions for entries with adult VNDB tags, and does not show direct VNDB entry links in the app.
Computer import
The temporary computer importer starts only when you turn it on. It creates a token-protected local-network address, accepts uploads from devices on the same network, and expires after a short idle period or a short maximum session. Uploaded files are imported into the app container.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains on the device until you delete individual games, clear local data, uninstall the app, or use the destructive actions in Data Settings. When iCloud library sync is enabled, deletions of synced library data are also propagated to iCloud.
